24 DAYS OF COLOR: WHAT DAILY OBSERVATION TAUGHT ME ABOUT DESIGN

In December, I challenged myself to find one meaningful color every day for 24 days.

No filters, no trends, just raw observation. To be honest, it wasn’t easy. As much as I love color and as much as I instinctively observe and search for it everywhere I go, keeping up with a daily commitment for 24 days was a challenge. There were moments when the creative pressure felt heavy. But looking back, every bit of effort was worth it. What started as a simple visual diary turned into a deep lesson on how we perceive the world around us.

The Power of Small Details: We often look for ‘big’ inspiration, but some of the most beautiful shades were found in the simplest moments.

Color is Contextual: A color that looks cold in the morning light can feel like a warm hug by sunset. It reminded me that in design, lighting is just as important as the pigment itself.

Feeling in Color: Every color I captured triggered a specific mood because we don’t just look at colors, we live in them.

Beyond Favorites: By trying to cover almost every primary color, I realized that there are no ugly colors, only misunderstood ones. Every shade has a place where it belongs and a story it is waiting to tell.

Cultivating the Eye: Daily commitment taught me that seeing is a muscle. The more I looked for color in the mundane (a textured wall, fruit at the market, or flowers in my parents’ garden), the more the world opened up its hidden palettes to me.

The bridge between our lives and out spaces: Capturing  all these colors from my daily lifedesign proved that our homes are just reflections of our outside experiences. We don’t bring colors into our rooms; we bring memories of how those colors made us feel out in the world.

Looking back at those 24 days, I realize that we don’t just see color, we feel it. My December diary was for me a reminder that inspiration isn’t something you wait for, but something you practice noticing every single day.

With love for design,

Ana
